Identifying cell lines that stably produce high protein titers is a critical part of biopharmaceutical development. But, because their productivity and stability can vary enormously, traditional screening methods have turned cell-line development into a time-consuming, labor-intensive process. With companies facing pressure to reduce costs and shorten development times, techniques to improve the efficiency of this process are in demand.

To meet this new demand, scientists at Recipharm have developed an automated approach to cell-line development based on the Cello robotic system from The Automation Partnership. This paper discusses the benefits of automation and provides an in-depth look at the new automated platform.
